WEB DESIGN IS SIMPLE… BUT, MAN, IS IT TEDIOUS!
After a couple of hours I’m done! But, yeah, now comes the really tough part: uploading and hoping everything works as planned. It is never wracking!
And here’s the kicker: It doesn’t matter if I’m doing this for my own Website or for a client! They both have to be done with care because they’re both showcases for my talent.
Now, given that my desings might not have the latest dazzle-dazzle...
CUT TO [FLASHBACK]
INT. - NIGHT CLUB STAGE - NIGHT
There’s a lively crowd in this out of the place night club. A quartet has been improvising electric jazz fusion jams and take their first break.
ROSCOE BISCAYNE (50), portly, with an impish countenance, gets up from his drummer's throne to allow a STRAPPING MUSIC STUDENT to play his drums during the next set.
The student starts warming up, playing lightning fast riffs, fills, and unbelieavable beats.
Roscoe gazes sideways pretending not to be intimidated by the trained jock.
THE BAND BEGINS PLAYING
And the Music Student can’t hit one single fill correctly! He misses the cues, and after making a fool of himself, eventually relents, gives up and returns the throne to the elder Biscayne.
Sorry, man, I don’t know that song!
Dude, the ONE is the ONE no matter
what the song is… No matter if you’ve
never heard it! It comes from the heart,
and from the “street,” not
from your fancy college technique!
FADE TO BLACK
Dumb metaphor, I know, but you get my point. Creative work is about storylines, flow, and knowing your audience not about the latest gimmick.
The reason the movie The Matrix worked is because the then revolutionary filmmaking techniques were a function of the STORY and not put together to dazzle the audience with flashes and expolsions.
Marvel movies are cool but I can’t say I’ve seen any of them more than once. The Matrix I have seen dozens of times. Same here: this is MY story, told the way it makes sense to me, knowing what audience I’m trying to speak to. There are some dares - my photo gallery, for example, since I’m very far from being a pro photographer. However, they’re not there to impress anybody regarding my technique (see above), but to show me “jamming” with visuals (you can see my so, so, drumming in my YouTube channel, NOT HERE, lol). The photos should give you an idea of my sensibilities as a person, not my abilities as a technician, and the same goes for this website, everything in it, and, yes, in the work I do for my clients and maybe someday for YOU. So, yeah… Let me upload this baby and see whether it rocks or rolls!
